About NLP & Hypnosis

So what's it all about? For those of you with NLP and hypnosis experience the content of this section of the site will be familiar however if you are new to NLP and hypnosis then just take a moment to acquaint yourself with some of the terms and concepts of NLP covered below.

An important thing to remember about NLP is that it is experiential, there are many people who have learnt NLP from a book or from someone else who learnt from a book. One good test of someone's knowledge and skills is to say "Don't tell me what you mean but show me what you mean". during the practice meetings you will not only learn and understand but be able to use techniques.

As Leonardo da Vinci once said "There are too many bookish prejudices", Avoid any such limiting judgments, why not come along to a practice group one evening and have a fun and enjoyable and very affordable learning experience.

NLP and Hypnosis for performance excellence

NLP

Neuro Linguistic Programming - Learn how to run your own brain, manage your own feelings, behaviors and habits.

NLP Hypnosis Brain

NLP principles have been used to study people who are unusually talented, in order to determine the structure of their talent. So that talents, skills, strategies and behaviours can be quickly taught to others. NLP methods enable us not only to learn how people do things well but also how people do bad things such as bad habits and phobias. By knowing how they do it we are able to change what they do using NLP. Its working out the recipe for a cake once we know the recipe we can repeat it, improve upon it or ruin it the choice is ours.

We use NLP to help people recondition themselves so that old dis-empowering habits just don't seem to happen any more and new empowering habits and more resourceful behaviours begin to happen at an unconscious level.

With NLP we are able to work with peoples representation systems (what we see, hear, say, feel, smell and taste), their strategies, their programmes of behaviour and their beliefs, values and rules most of which operate at the unconscious level; helping people to recondition, re-educate and re-programme themselves so that new behaviours happen automatically. Working with NLP is like having access to the brains instruction book. Combining hypnosis with NLP (which is an application of NLP in itself) is  a unique and very powerful way to change behaviours and habits for life.

Hypnosis

“Hypnosis is a condition of profound relaxation which you allow yourself to enter, during which time there is an altered state of conscious awareness”

Milton H Erickson

Hypnosis is a safe way of accessing your natural intelligence and issuing new instructions to your unconscious enabling you to create seemingly miraculous changes in your behaviour and your body.

To understand clinical hypnosis and hypnotherapy, it's useful to understand your unconscious mind. This is the part of your mind that is the most powerful, containing infinite wisdom and a very deep level of intelligence. It is your untapped resource for creativity and imagination. Your unconscious mind is the seat of all your emotions and therefore directs nearly all of your behaviour. Most importantly, your unconscious is also responsible for maintaining your body in good health and for all autonomic processes (e.g. breathing, blood circulation, tissue regeneration, repair etc.)

You already know what hypnosis feels like, because you have experienced many natural hypnotic states every day of your life, when daydreaming or driving or watching TV. These are those pleasant, dreamlike states where you "drift off".  The safe, intentional clinical hypnosis we use during your sessions is entering these same, natural states deliberately and with awareness. It is a systematic method that allows you to enter these "dreamlike states" and communicate directly with your unconscious mind and issue new suggestions or instructions.  All you have to do is relax and enjoy the experience
